The only change to gameplay would be that you would have to craft a chiseled bookshelf (6 planks and 3 slabs), place it down, and place the comparator down facing away from the chiseled bookshelf. So basically the goal wouldn't be any more practically difficult than obtaining a comparator, but it would tie in to fill chiseled bookshelf (kinda) and 20/30 advancements, and it would showcase a redstone game mechanic.

or maybe you just combine the two goals?

Pythoria2 months ago

as in no chiseled bookshelf either

Pythoria2 months ago

idk

I think overlap with fill chiseled bookshelf is minimal as you need silk touch for it to drop, but I like that it makes the goal more interesting

Pythoria2 months ago

silk touch what???

Pythoria2 months ago

how the hell is silk touch related

GracefulBeautyOP2 months ago

chiseled bookshelves don't drop when you break them without silk touch, so if you fill a chiseled bookshelf before entering nether you can't reuse it

u do get 3 spare slabs from the craft tho so u cld always craft 2 chiseled bookshelves to begin with

Pythoria2 months ago

for some reason i was imagining getting comparator before it somehow

Pythoria2 months ago

its like 3 logs or something its not that bad either way

Pythoria2 months ago

but yeah im on the same page now

Pythoria2 months ago

do u need a book to get the advancement?

beniibobs2 months ago

no it’s just the two blocks

Pythoria2 months ago

icic

Pythoria2 months ago

yeah its basically just comparator but cooler

Sugus8462 months ago

I kind of feel like this is overcomplicating the goal for no reason

Sugus8462 months ago

I mean don't get me wrong the replacement is cool

Sugus8462 months ago

But I think it would be better if it was a new goal on its own rather than a replacement

Pythoria2 months ago

it would be literally the same goal but you need some wood

Sugus8462 months ago

I mean you need a book

GracefulBeautyOP2 months ago

it works with empty chiseled bookshelf

Sugus8462 months ago

Oh ok mb I didn't know that

I would say right now there is a bit of skill in being aware of and remembering the niche advancement overlap for 20/30, but it's such a slight difference either way.

Added alongside Obtain Comparator, instead of replacing it

if this was a proper variant of obtain comparator (like the colored wool goals) that would be nice i think
